Conflict Coaching and Mediation for Everyday Life

The reality is, conflict is a part of life. Whether at home, with friends, at work, or in our communities, we all experience conflict — big and small. So how can we engage more productively with conflict?

Conflicts let us know what values, needs, and dreams are important to us.

When approached with care and respect for all involved, conflicts are life-serving and life-enriching, and can lead to greater connection, cooperation, respect, and intimacy.

One of the keys to successfully navigating, and even reducing interpersonal conflict, is the ability genuinely to connect with another person while staying connected to oneself; to know and feel moved by what matters to the other person while at the same honoring what matters to us.

So how do we get there?

My approach to conflict coaching and mediation is based on the principles of Nonviolent Communication and starts with finding and building connection between the parties involved. Connection is the foundation to co-creating solutions that can meet everyone’s needs to the greatest extent possible. Connection builds understanding and trust, and trust builds our ability to navigate differences and find solutions, together, that are life serving.

Length and number of sessions will vary depending on your specific needs, and by mutual agreement. Please contact me for my schedule of fees.

Facilitated Dream Exploration

This facilitated group-based approach to dream sharing and interpretation is called “Projective Dream Work,” developed by Dr. Jeremy Taylor. When dreams are worked collectively, a fuller range of meanings is derived as dreams speak to us in the universal language of images and metaphors that have both individual and collective significance. No matter the nature of the dream, “all dreams come in the service of health and wholeness” (Jeremy Taylor).

Our process:

  • A dream is shared with the group, and group members participate in “projecting” meaning onto the dream as if it was their own dream.

  • Participants contribute to uncovering multiple layers of significance and meaning.

  • The Dreamer gains insight into the dreams' images, feelings, and associations.

  • In the end, only the Dreamer knows for certain, through “aha” moments, what a particular dream means to them.

Dream Exploration workshops meet once a month for 90 minutes and run for four or five consecutive months. The ideal number of participants is 4-6. Generally, two or three dreams are worked on during a 90-minute session, depending on the length of the dreams and level of detail.

Privacy and confidentiality are essential in creating a safe, supportive, and respectful environment that honors all participants’ dignity and integrity.

“As we free ourselves from the suffering of 'something is wrong with me,' we trust and express the fullness of who we are.” Tara Brach
